League Changes Starting in March

The IPM League is continually gaining popularity thanks to the great weekly tournaments and league rankings. This is good news for all members because it means we can continue to run these great events and slowly increase tournament prize pools and league prizes. However, it also means more and more players want to join each week. The freeroll tournaments are starting to reach a number of entrants which makes the games less fun for everyone. Even worst, the passwords are being shared with too many non-members (especially for the Carbon freerolls). The last thing I want is for the freerolls to become full of all-in donkeys. I want these games to be a good competition between great players, and I know the league definitely has some great players!

In order to maintain the quality of league games, the freerolls will be restricted only to registered league members. This will take effect starting in March for the Carbon freerolls. Such a feature is currently not available at Pitbull Poker, but they're working on it and the Pitbull freerolls will also be restricted to league members only as soon as it's possible. In order to play in the Carbon league freerolls, players now need to be registered as league members. The list of league members has already been sent for the March league and members have been awarded the IPM Entry Coupon. A password is still needed to register and all passwords can be found in the Tournament Passwords forum as usual, but players will now also need the coupon to register. New league members will have to wait until they receive the coupon before they can play in the Carbon freerolls. I will try to update the list about once a week. All league buy-ins will only need a password as before.

There are also changes to the league prizes starting in March. For the Pitbull league, only players who signed up at Pitbull through the IPM site will be eligible to win the cash prizes. The 1st place will receive $50, 2nd place will receive $30 and 3rd place will receive $20, but only if the player is tracked to IPM. For the Carbon league, the 2 $11 buy-in coupons will still be awarded to any winning player, but only players who signed up at Carbon through the IPM site will be eligible to win the cash prizes. The 1st place will receive $50, 2nd place will receive $25 and 3rd place will receive $10, but only if the player is tracked to IPM. For both leagues, all players can still win tournament money and earn points for the standings.
